Q: What do those letters in front of certain threads mean?
A: The L, SL and S mean Locked, Sticky Locked and Sticky.

Q: Help! My post disappeared!
A: If it's not the end of the week, and I've decided to move a post, I'll leave the "Moved: ---" up until the original poster has seen it or at the end of the week, when I do most of the "clean up". If your post has "disappeared" and there's no moved thread post, be sure to check the appropriate board. Otherwise, no post should disappear unless it violated the TOS or the rules. But even then, you should receive a PM or some sort of information on why it's gone

Q: Who is Wild Beast and what do they do?
A: Wild Beast is a staff account that all staff members on Rattus have access to. It's been put into place so that random wild beasts can be put into a thread. A few of the wild beasts are humans, red foxes, wild cats, hawks and owls.

Rats

Q: What are the limitations concerning mutated genes and alterations?
A: Lab rats can have all sorts of mutated genes and alterations. This includes funky colors, extra appendages, altered or mixed DNA. They can have DNA mixed with other small animals such as birds.

Q: Can my rats craft items such as tools and clothing?
A: Yes, your rats can. They can craft tools/weapons out of sticks, rocks and garbage. They can also craft clothing out things like grass, leafs or garbage.

Features

Q: How do I get a posting template?
A: To add a template, simply go to your profile, click modify, then scroll down to the area that says "UBBC Template". Click the create link, and it'll prompt you to enter a title for your template. From there, you can enter the UBBC tags of you choosing for the character, or what have you. After which, click modify profile. And there ya go! You now have a template for your character.

Q: I can't get the posting template to work/my templates keep disappearing.
A: As stated on Proboards Support -

Since this code uses an HTML 5 feature, your browser needs to be the following version at a minimum.

The templates are stored on your computer by your browser which gives a limited amount of space per domain (website): 5MB per domain in Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera, 10MB per storage area in Internet Explorer. If you clear all browser history then the templates will also be cleared.

Q: What are Trinkets and how do I get them?
A: Trinkets are the money here on Rattus. Every time you make a post, either IC or OOC, you get 5 Trinkets. You can also receive Trinkets from site contests and special events, member contests and special events, from other members (e.g. if you create a graphic or manip for them) and for various other reasons.

Q: How does the Trinket Shoppe work?
A: When you decide what you want from the shoppe, go to the customer orders thread, copy the forum and post it in a new thread in the Trinket Shoppe board, with a title related to the topic. Staff will then complete your order and move it to completed orders board.

Chatango

Q: What is Chatango?
A: Chatango is an alternative to the cbox. It automatically refreshes itself, you can change your font face and color and a few other things that you couldn't do using a cbox.

Q: How do I sign up for Chatango?
A: There will be a little button that says "Set Your Name". A pop up will appear. There's an option to use a temporary name, in the case of guests, or to sign up as a chatango member. Type in your Rattus user name. If it's already taken, something similar to it will suffice. (eg, Rattus user name: Hoax, Chatango user name: Hoaxy). And a password, then it'll ask for you email. From there you can set your avatar image and a profile if you wish.

Q: How do I stop strangers from messaging me?
A: Go to Chatango.com, log into your account directly through the site, click on settings and unselect "Allow anons to message me". From there you can also decide if you want your profile to be shown in Chatango's Meet People section. The chatango on Rattus is set up so it's not shown on their lists of chats.

Q: Can I change or turn off the chat sound?
A: Yes. To turn it off, click the little speaker at the bottom under the message window. To change it, again go to the chatango site and click settings. There you can change it to a number of different sounds.
